MOCA - Week 2

The artist I’ve chosen for week two is Satoshi Matsuyama whom resides in Honolulu Hawaii. I share his passion of the beautiful landscapes of the Hawaiian Island and the open waters of the Pacific Ocean. His inspiration falls deep into his religious beliefs in reflecting the natural beauty of the earth in which God had intended to be seen. Majority of his artwork is based on nature, which focuses on the brilliant colors and lighting.

The piece I’ve chosen from his art portfolio is called “Blessed are the Pure in our Heartland.” The artist creates his masterpieces utilizing high tech electronics. Digital photos are taken utilizing a high-end digital camera called the Hasselbald H3D-39 camera. This camera has digital autofocus based on a 39 million pixel sensor. He enhances his digital photos using the digital tools in Adobe Photoshop CS4. His art work is captured on canvas utilizing a digital fine art printer HP designjet Z3200 44-in 12 –color photo printer.

His digital artwork takes my breath away.

HOLA ...... im Aisha, preferrably a.Nailah (n'eye-ee-lah).....thats what i call myself when i'm doing artistic things! :) I am 2 classes away from graduation here at Albertus, and persuing art and photography, above are examples of my multimedia paintings and digital photography 9 i call "aura" photos) . My plan is also to become a cerified art and special ed. teacher, I love working with students and have done so for some years now......although I'm currently unemployed, BUT I am enjoying my freetime. I'm taking this class because it seems so interesting and to build myself artistically so Im intersted to see what everyone else is going to produce...I'll be posting soon..... PEACE & ENJOY

MOCA

The artist I chose was JD Jarvis. This piece grabbed me because of the composition itself and how complex it is, it wasn't very textural, its almost ethereal. Its also veru haunting, it looks like an illustration of a nightmare. The title is SIN TESTIGOS which means "no witnesses". The story behind it is that of the murdering of over 400 women over a 10 year period in Juarez, Mexico, with no witnesses. The mutilated bodies of these women are often found in the junkyards of that area.

The artist intentions were not these results, but in allowing himself to work freely he created Sin Testigos.

week 1

I choosed Teddynash because his artwork is a bit complexed. I see mystery, confusion and interest in his work. I think looking deep into his artwork the colors are very mysterious and full of interest

MOCA week 2

The artist I chose is Natalie Hromin born in Zagreb, Croatia. She uses layers from various sources, some are from her physical paintings, some are photographs and some are made by using various materials, gradients and patterns integrated in software or made by herself. She uses Paint Shop Pro but Brice, Corel and Photoshop are used for details, fractals, effects and fonts. She also incorporates Tarot influences in her art. This image shown is evocations of a landscape that hovers between the real and unreal. They are at once mute, intense, mystical, wondrous and forbidding. It reminds me of a sandcastle at the beach. Summer days!

MOCA Week 2

Having looked through the artists on MOCA this week, I chose Raya Grinberg's work - especially this piece called 'Suction'. I needed something soft to look at to soothe me and when I saw this piece I felt so comforted. Raya lives in Israel and retired as a civil servant. In 2002 she discovered digital art in parallel to studies in alternative medicine. The large variety of graphic softwares and the unlimited number of options thrilled Raya's imagination and drew her to the creative new world of fantasy.

Andy "Dice" Warhol Project

My attempt at the project began with a portrait of Andrew Dice Clay. After many frustrating attempts to figure out how to add color to this image, when you first open a new document the color mode had to be set to RGB Color since I copied a Grayscale photo to draw on, the project went excellent. I used yellow for his skin because I picture people who smoke turning yellow from the old stories I used to hear in grade school. Then I added blue to his leather jacket since leather jackets are "cool" and blue is a cool color. Finally I added a funky green to the background to accentuate the black of his hair. The green also acts like a warning that this guy is a little out there and you might find him intriguing.

Harlequin by Gun Legler

This artwork immediately drew my attention from the title Harlequin, which just so happens to be the name of the Joker's sidekick from the Batman comics. While the comic character is a girl, this photo seems to be of a boy wearing a simple sweatshirt. I think the artist used Photoshop and made layers out of two photos. First laying down the background layer which could possibly be a photo of shallow water, such as a pond with underlying rocks, and made it into a grayscale picture. Using the same effects we used for the oil painting project it makes the image crystalized. The next step was to lay down the image of the boy, which was then faded out so it is almost transparent but had a glow effect added to it, though it is also grayscale the "glow" appears as mear dark shading, but really makes this image pop out at the viewer.

"Hi, I am Gun Legler from Sweden. I live together with my cat Simon in a little village near GothenburgOn the outside I am old, but young inside :-)For so long I can remember, I have enjoyed expressing myself through any kind of art or craft. Until I was 40 I worked as a child psychologist and pre-school teacher, but after that I said goodbye to my profession and began studying at an art school. There I stayed for four years, mainly learning Graphic art (etching, dry needle and linoleum cut). I was a lousy oil painter, that medium did not fit me at all, watercolor I liked better.For many years I made collages of different kind, watercolor and textile. I grew up with a mother that sewed and a father that built violins, so I early fell in love with textures of many kinds.I work very much by intuition when I make an image, experimenting wildly with layers, textures, color and light. But the form is equally important, that‘s what Graphic school taught me."

Oil Painting Project

This is my attempt at the oil painting project. It is a picture of my girlfriend's tattoo. The idea came from the gothic style fairy paintings that show dark fairies and their shredded wings. This rendering is to the specs of the instructions, though I would like to try backing off on some of the effects slightly to make it slightly less grainy.

MOCA - Week 2

This week I chose artist Teddynash. I have to say that everyone of the 15 pieces that I viewed were quite interesting, but I particularly like this one. I like the way they are looking back at each other and both seem to be surprised like they have caught each other off guard. The man in the picture looks a little more refined and not as disheveled and the cartoon caricature looks like he wants to say “what’s your problem, why you looking at me like that”. He is not as polished as the man in the actual picture is as his hair is sticking up and his mustache is askew. But the more I look at this picture, I think this could be a self portrait of himself and he has to take a step back because he is a little surprised at what he sees. Teddynash is from Germany and brings wit, style and humor to his art work. He uses PhotoShop 7 and Picture It 3 and says, “Important is not perfect artworks, but expression of emotions.” I agree with this quote because I believe your emotions are a sign that tell you what really is going on around you. And looking at this picture, both seem quite surprised.

Hello my name is Natasha Williamsand I'm a senior here at Albertus College. I am going to be graduating in May. I presently work at Yale New Haven Hospital, and have been working there for the past three years. I have a 13 year old daughter who goes to Hamden Middle School. I am currently looking into transferring into a nursing program because that is where my love is.

i'm blown away by Teddynash artwork. His artwork illustrates fun, humor,and mockery. it's very rear that a artist demonstrate all of the above in one piece. Teddynash uses photo shop 7 and picture it 3 to create most of his artwork.
