MOCA 5

This week I chose the artwork of Lutz Meinert. The diverse fields of work of this native-born Berliner were always stamped by art and technology - since his work consisted of studies of education and dramatics as media educationist, musician, composer, web designer and photographer. While working with photography and computer engineering, Lutz Meinert detected his passion for digital painting. The almost limitless possibilities of the digital imaging enabled an utmost efficient experimentation with different forms of expression. Although photos are his main starting material, by their abstraction their photorealistic heir is only partially reflected. In fact, his various works of art mostly show an expressionist until surrealistic style, which sometimes becomes abstract art or takes up another element of style like pop-art. I was drawn to this piece of artwork because there is so much going on. The images of (ghost) people sitting around a table intrigues me and makes the piece feel like one is in a dream.
