Gun Legler lives in Sweden and gave up his job as a child psychologist at age 40 to pursue an education in art. Although he has no actually education in computer art, it now takes up most of his time and he has grown very fond of it. He tought himself how to do everything. Legler typically uses PaintShopPro and Photoshop to create his pieces. I was drawn to his work because the subjects' emotion comes out. You can tell that he took portraits of people and altered them using the computer. The colors and textures that he adds really show how the subject is feeling and what they are going through. My favorites of his work are the above two images, "Frostbitten" and "In Her Own World," however other pieces on MOCA are also amazing. There are a couple on the website that really demonstrate the termoil that the subject must be going through. I admire Legler's ability to depict such emotions.
