I became interested in the artist San Base, formerly from the Soviet Union, now living in Canada. San developed a process called Dynamic Paintings. These paintings can be considered a 'generative art' - an art that has been generated algorithmically by a computer system. They are coomposed of abstract images in a state of continuous transformation. The overall idea of the painting remains unchanged, while the computer introduces infinite variation, generating many paintiings per minute instead of 2-3 per week as most artists create. The picture lives its own life with objects moving and transforming but still following the original artist's concept. This Dynamic Painting/Generative Art piece I chose is called "The place where only yesterday" (no, I didn't leave out any words). To me I see Noah's Art in the middle of a storm, the land being swallowed by water, as chaos abounds. Excellent post... that is just how we are approaching our image making as well... that computer code can generate color and line in accidental and new ways... and with our guidance, become art.
